City Opera House and Take It From The Top are committed to inspiring young artists to reach their potential—no matter the circumstances. More than ever, connection is crucial. Arts education inspires life skills, togetherness and community. By combining virtual and live programming with Broadway professionals, we will continue to mentor our students to express themselves, create and succeed.
TIFTT’s Broadway professionals started out just like the students—passionate about theater. Dedicated to developing the next generation, Take It From The Top returns for its tenth summer in Traverse City at City Opera House. Students, ages 9-20, explore energetic musical theater training with Broadway professionals in the triple threat disciplines of music, dance, and acting.
TIFTT Executive Director Paul Canaan (Legally Blonde, Kinky Boots) and Jacob Yandura (NYC composer, pianist) will lead virtual instruction and be at City Opera House throughout the week for live instruction of group numbers, individual coaching, choreography and scenes. Additionally, Broadway professionals and teaching artists will join daily for live virtual guest talk backs.
The combination of LIVE | VIRTUAL instruction will give ALL students more opportunities for one-on-one song coaching, dance instruction, special guest talk backs (director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell and Tony Award-winner Annaleigh Ashford) and creative courses where students will learn the process of song writing, choreographing or playwriting.
TIFTT students will be broken in to two groups—Advanced and Broadway Intensive. Each group will be provided their own unique google drive with PDF’s of music, choreography videos and music parts so students can learn at their own pace.
